STIKOM Yos Sudarso Strengthens Institutional Transformation through APTIK Mentoring with Soegijapranata Catholic University
STIKOM Yos Sudarso (SYS) Purwokerto is intensifying its institutional transformation toward university status through a strategic collaboration with Soegijapranata Catholic University (SCU) Semarang. This mentoring is part of the supervisory mechanism within the Association of Catholic Higher Education Institutions (APTIK), after SYS officially joined as an Associate Member.
Under APTIK statutes, associate members receive guidance from full member universities for a minimum period of two years. In this case, Soegijapranata Catholic University has been appointed as the mentoring institution for SYS.
Initial Coordination and Commitment
The commitment was discussed during a working visit by the Yayasan Karya Perutusan together with STIKOM Yos Sudarso leadership to the SCU campus in Bendan, Semarang. The visit marked the first step in aligning institutional development direction in a more systematic and sustainable manner.
The Chair of STIKOM Yos Sudarso said this mentoring presents a strategic moment to accelerate institutional quality improvements across academics, governance, and readiness for transformation into a university.
"This collaboration is our concrete step to reform and grow. We want to ensure that STIKOM Yos Sudarso's transformation not only meets regulatory requirements but also produces an institution that is excellent, adaptive, and impactful," he said.
Scope of the Mentoring Program
The mentoring, which will run over the agreed period, will cover several key aspects, including:
- Strengthening academic programs and curriculum based on learning outcomes and industry needs
- Enhancing the capacity of human resources, including lecturers and educational staff
- Improving foundation and institutional governance
- Preparing strategic documents for institutional transformation
- Reinforcing the values and identity of a Catholic higher education institution within the vision and mission
Long-term Goals and Regional Synergy
For STIKOM Yos Sudarso, the process is not only about changing institutional status but also about strengthening the university's role in producing graduates relevant to contemporary needs.
Embracing the spirit of "Excellent and Humanist," SYS frames this transformation as part of a long-term commitment to build an educational ecosystem that makes a tangible impact.
The collaboration with SCU is further supported by geographic proximity, shared values, and networks within LLDIKTI Region VI and the diocesan environment in Central Java, which are expected to facilitate intensive and sustained implementation of the mentoring programs.
Through this mentoring, STIKOM Yos Sudarso is optimistic about accelerating its progress toward a more mature, innovative, and competitive institution, in line with SYS's 20-year spirit: "Seedling Knowledge, Cultivating Innovation, Harvesting Excellence."
